Dragon flying.

Finally, after taking several pictures for a dragon scene (stalking a castle), here's a flying Dragon enjoying the sky.

I made a "flying cycle" and played around with a camera.

It took me one hour to render this movie, because of the Ambient Occlusion lightening. So next time i'll just use an ambient light instead.

I'm happy! viking And i'd love to film the entire scene, just like i take it by photos.

Re: Dragon flying.

Very nice - looks like the dragon is swimming through the air (why not!).

Hope you do more of that.

Re: Dragon flying.

Wow!

You've put a lot of effort into that, and it looks really great. I really like the neck, arm and leg movements that go with the flying.

One point of criticism: When flapping their wings, birds (and presumably dragons) don't usually maintain the same height: they go up on each down stroke of the wings, and go down a little on each up stroke...

Obviously a script or plugin would be really handy to coordinate the up-down position track(s) with the wing-beat tracks... but you've done such a great job coordinating the other tracks that one more surely wouldn't be too difficult for you. :-)

Cheers!
Nik

Re: Dragon flying.

Oh.. The first time I watched it I did not notice, that it was working with all the legs -- I was just watching the wings smile

The selection of the music is a "bull's eye". Gives the movie a nicely serene oriental feeling smile

Re: Dragon flying.

I'm sure that up and down movement will be easy with AoI, and without using scripts.

My first dragon was the one to compose the flying style (the swimming style). So each movement was added in a experimental track. I mean, adding around 7 keyframes and looking for a feeling.

But then i had to re-do the scene because the dragon was laking of bones in the legs. And even i had some problems with the eyes that Siri helped to solve. So i just started a new flying cycle and realized that i could solve the whole loop whit just two positions.

The result is pretty good. I also managed to add a sountrack, and to fade sound and video. Anyway the video is raw, but i like it like and introduction to series.

Re: Dragon flying.

Thanks Siri and all for the positive comments. I really needed that. For this animation and for the pictures too.
