Re: Structure Synth Translator

Ok , I'll work on the code to provide that.
But it depends primarily if the transparency and other BRDF "information" is provided in the ss output other than the diffuse color.
I'll look at it.

Alessio

Re: Structure Synth Translator

Hi ,
I've posted a new version of the structure synth translator (the link is the same as above).
In this version , you can apply a material and a texture to the imported structure.
But what it the "added value"  instead of do it manually :
If your structure has a lot of colors (lot of textures to import) , the plugin ask you to interactively set up a texture
as a normal texture editor. The plugin will use all the texture and materials parameters setted up by the user , except the diffuse color.
The diffuse color of the texture will be the original diffuse color exported from Structure Synth.
In this way , you can add transparency , glossy reflections etc. to the structure without killing its original colors !

@Jep : Hope this can answer your request wink

Some renders (of course)

Re: Structure Synth Translator

ezziolai -> this way your plugin will always be the better choice.
Even if Structure Synth can do Obj Export in the future.

Thank you for your work on that!

Harald

Re: Structure Synth Translator

Absoloofly great!
Works well, am rendering a 5hours+ 'city of glass' at the moment, will post when it's done.

Feel flattered you did this just because I asked. You scripters/coders are magicians to me. Leaving me to sit in awe. All while I'll put the new importer to good use smile

Thank you, Alessio!

Re: Structure Synth Translator

Okay, here it is. Took a mere 6 hours with that modest 53.766 glass objects  smile
Thx once more, ezziolai.

Another one, these mirrors took only some 20 minutes. Also because the object count was reduced to 4600:

Moss big_smile

OK.... I needed to learn a new word of this language to say that, but those pictures made me think of moss. (AND I just learned, what Kate Moss' last name means) tongue

...there's more to the picture than meets the eye...

Killer in the sense they are just beautyful , without other means , hope I wasn't misunderstanded.

Thank you all for the averagely positive feedback.
It's very very nice to make a thing that can be useful for others.
That's one of the magic things of the life , in this case applied to open source software.
Btw programming on aoi platform it's beautyful , provides me sensations like driving a luxury car .
Thanks to all aoi core developers for this.

Greetings

Re: Structure Synth Translator

Hi,

Please consider posting your AoI images to the public Structure Synth Pool at Flickr: http://flickr.com/groups/structuresynth/

There are some really great images in this thread, and posting them at Flickr would expose Art of Illusion to the Structure Synth users.

Looking forward to trying the plugin!

Best regards, Mikael.
