Re: FS Contestlet - August 1, 2006 [Closed]

I forgot to post a description before the 15th.
Assuming I can still enter, the description is here:

My upcoming (I think) entry shows an alien city, technologically middle 21st century Earth. The inhabitants are trunked bipeds, somewhat humanoid. For them, it is a day of confusion and uncertainty -- a alien craft, marked "NASA", is descending from the sky.

Okay, here it is. I somewhat over-advertised it, so it may not exactly live up to expectations. I spent too much time on the landscape, and not enough on the aliens, which is why they look like cartoon characters. And the background isn't imaginative enough; it looks like Earth.

It took 2h 55m to model, and ~30-40m to render. AO, AA, AR.

Edit: fixed the link.

I just realized that there is only one day left: I hereby proclaim that the following image should be my official contest entry! smile

In accordance with iammatt's comment and my own thoughts, I chose the first of the linked images.

BTW: I learned that individual screen settings (brightness/contrast) strongly influence the overall "impact" of my image. So be advised to increase your screen's brightness to a level you can see anything at all! big_smile

And in my understanding that would have left you another 24 hours - timezone corrections* to do whatever you might have thought necessary with your scene. big_smile (Not that I could think of anything... that's a really cool alien-insectoid!)

If I got it right and August 1st-27th includes the 27th...

(*Which is the decisive timezone for the contests??? UTC?)

Don't worry - the science behind the time is only known by me wink.  Actually, I'm not too worried about it - as long as it is in before I set up the poll on the morning of the 28th Mountain Time.
