If I remember correctly, it didn't take long to Bake at all.

So, here's my settings:
In Object management tab:
Emitter: Density factor is 1.0
Boundary is set to its defaults

Fluid Parameters tab:
Step size: 0.0011
frame bake size 0.02 (the default)
particle size 0.1
density 1000.0
Body Acceleration: x, y, z,: 0.0, -9.81, 0.0

The rendering time for the 10 second video was exactly 21 hours, 13 minutes, and 29 seconds.
My hubby, who is accustomed to the traditional video (movies) rendering says it should have rendered in a lot less time than that (about 1 hour or less) and I tried to explain to him about the calculations that AOI has to make for this type of animation but I was unable to convince him, lol.

Here's my well documented discussion on how to use the plugin:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/aoi/fo … ic/7075165

Welcome back Gymnart

I thought I was the only one still playing around with this plugin lol.

Anyway, what was the bake time, and how long to render a 10 second video ??
I usually find that with both bake, and, a movie format - the time involved is very constrictive !! I don't have a lot of free time on my plate anymore, so, the planning stage is very important to me so as not to have to change a tweak or two, then rebake & rerender

Keep us informed - OK ?

---------> Bill

QB -

The hologram object is a unique tool that shows a 2D image to the viewer no matter where in 3D space the camera is placed.
it is quite useful for populating scenes with "similar" objects ( like tress in a forest). No matter where you walk, the forest is still there - with full frontal view.
the downside is - the trees are not 3D objects, just 2D views that always rotate to full front view regardless of your viewing angle.

Funny object, but very useful for certain applications.Right now I am using it to view a ".mov" animated texture in a store type setting - so that while you walk around the store, you always see the video playing in 3D space.Hard to visualize, but remember, we still don't even have a real hologram projector yet

---------> Bill

Hi guys -

Just been playing around with animation + hologram scene, and a funny quirk appeared.

The hologram is defined by a cylinder object - yet when rendered - it appears as a cube !!

No big problem, but just another anomally here in AOI ----

I wish I could show you the results, but, lacking storage space here on AOI, I must resort to using Utube

Anyone else experimenting with holograms ??

Thanks - Bill
